'06 Ruck Leadership Institute Key to Development of 150 Balanced Leaders

Tuesday, August 01, 2006
Two sessions of the Ruck Leadership Institute were held this summer at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.  Participants were chosen from a strong candidate pool of current and rising undergraduate SigEp leaders from chapters across the country.

The core curriculum was based on The Leadership Challenge by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner.  Brother Posner is a past National Director and past staff member for Sigma Phi Epsilon and is one of the leading authorities on leadership in the United States.  The curriculum was driven in small groups by teams of facilitators made of key alumni.

Other speakers punctuated the message on developing leadership skills as part of a balanced life.  These speakers were Grand President Archie Yeatts, Bill Tragos (Foundation Trustee, Past Grand President, Order of the Golden Heart), National Director Rick Bennet and nationally reknowned personal trainer Frank Butterfield.

Participants also worked together on a high-ropes course, putting into action what they had learned and challenging themselves to work through adversity.

Here is a testimonial from Brian Austin of the Wichita State chapter who attend the second session this year.
